The community child minding program provides opportunities for newcomer women and women living on a low income to develop skills and knowledge in early childhood development and community-based child minding and child care.
This 15 week program is for people who are interested in working with children. The program provides training in the areas of child development, health, nutrition, child safety, community resources, behaviour management, understanding child abuse, and program planning, as well as food handling and CPR certification. Many graduates find employment providing childcare in schools and community agencies.
The program is offered two or three times a year by a partnership of Davenport Perth Community Health Centre, and Parkdale Intercultural Association and Parkdale West Community Health Centre.
Priority will be given to registrants within the Parkdale Community. Should there be space, women from outside of the catchment area will be accommodated.
