In 2020, SEW NEW will not be offered.
In 2019, Newcomer Women’s Services and The Make Den sewing studio proudly announce the launch of SEW NEW.
SEW NEW will train 21 participants to create a hemming and sewing business to launch, no matter their sewing skill – the opportunity to receive top quality instruction from the owner of The Make Den Sewing Studio, Irene Stickney. Business development and coaching is provided by Enactus Ryerson – an entrepreneurship program from the Ted Rogers School of Management.
This is more than a class. The class will become a business thanks to the support of Irene and “Enactus Ryerson”, an entrepreneurial group of students sponsored by the Ted Rogers School of Management.
The program is offered to everyone who:
- Self-identifies as a woman
- Is receiving Ontario Works
- Has experience with/interest in sewing
- Is interested in starting their own business
Note that applicants must be receiving benefits from Ontario Works. (This program is not just for newcomer women.)
