The Youth Collaboration program, organized by Youth Employment Services (YES), assists youth 15 – 30 years of age to find employment through group-based employability skills training and a work experience placement. The program provides holistic services for youth who are out of school, unemployed and are facing barriers to finding a job.
The program begins with two to three weeks of group-based employability and life skills workshops. Youth receive minimum wage and TTC tokens. Upon successful completion of the training period participants may qualify for a paid work placement, up to a maximum of ten weeks with the goal of permanent employment at the end of the placement period.
Refugee newcomers qualify for this program, provided that they are not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits.
All youth selected for the program must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Canadian citizenship, permanent resident, or Convention Refugee status
- legally entitled to work in Canada
- not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits
The program flyer can be found here.
